Why Approved Accessories Matter
PDLC smart film operates on low-voltage AC (48–65V for PDLC, 90V for SPD). The transformer is not optional — it is the component that makes the film work safely. An undersized transformer drops voltage under load, producing slow or flickering transitions and eventual overheating. An oversized transformer wastes money but is otherwise safe.
Edge sealing with the correct sealant is the single most important maintenance action for PDLC film longevity. Solvent-based or acetoxy sealants chemically attack the polymer matrix and ITO conductive layer, causing irreversible delamination and busbar corrosion. Neutral-cure, non-solvent, zero-shrink silicone (DOWSIL 895/795, Tosseal 381, GE 83) protects the film edge for the rated lifespan of over 100,000 hours.

No. PDLC film requires a dedicated 48–65V AC transformer — never connect to mains directly. The transformer must be sized to the total film area. An undersized transformer causes slow switching, flickering, and overheating. elevatoX transformers include over-voltage and short-circuit protection.
Only neutral-cure, non-solvent, zero-shrink silicone sealants are approved: DOWSIL 895, DOWSIL 795, Tosseal 381, GE 83, or equivalents. Acetoxy (acid-cure) silicone releases acetic acid that corrodes the ITO conductive layer. Solvent-based sealants dissolve the polymer matrix. Apply at approximately 75 ml/m² around the full perimeter.
A smart-home bridge is optional. Basic installations work with a wall switch or remote. The bridge adds Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa integration for voice control, scheduling, and automation routines. It connects to the same transformer output as the switch.
